- Abstract
The current society pays particular attention to the phenomenon of social and school inclusion of people with neuro-psycho-motor deficiencies. For children, the approach to integrating people diagnosed with epilepsy through a multidisciplinary vision addresses aspects of physical integration which are complemented by the pedagogical approach. Hypotheses: There is a favorable evolution and statistically significant differences in the dominant hand of subjects included in the study, compared to the non-dominant hand, following the application of the physiotherapeutic recovery treatment while the number of pathologies associated with the primary diagnosis adversely affect patients' evolution, has a statistically significant inverse correlation. Place and period of research: The research was carried out within the institution: School for Inclusive Education School Nr. 2, Târgu Mures, in the physiotherapy room, for a period of six months that is from 09. 01. 2016, until 10. 06. 2016. The subjects: In order to carry out the study, we selected 10 people with medical diagnosis of epilepsy. Means: In the implementation of our study, occupational therapy was used. Evaluation: During the study period, the subjects took part in three evaluation series, an initial, an halfway and a final one. Grip strength measurements were implemented with the Hydraulic Hand Dynamometer. The data gathered from the three tests were analyzed using the GraphPad software. Conclusions: The application of our physiotherapeutic recovery treatment, brought forth a favorable evolution in the dominant hand of our subjects in comparison with the non-dominant one. The number of pathologies associated with the initial diagnosis has influenced in a negative manner the evolution of the subjects dominant hand only. A reduced number of pathologies associated have contributed to a better evolution of the subjects. Occupational therapy, therapeutic physical exercises implemented in our study, have brought forth a favorable evolution in the grip strength of our subjects, which will provide more efficient manual abilities and implicitly an optimization of their school progression.
