- Abstract
The article focuses on a survey regarding tick-borne encephalitis caused by tick-borne encephalitis virus (TBEV) in Japan and Russia and also reflects on the role of interferon antagonist activity in the pathogenicity of tick-borne flaviviruses (TBFV). It reports that several flavivirus possess interferon antagonist activity. It reveals that the reduction of interferon antagonists activity induces the attenuation of tick-borne flavivirus and can also led to the development of vaccines.
