ACTFL Spearheads "Year of Languages" Initiative for Academic Year 2004-2005.
- Abstract
The article reports on the plan of the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL) to proclaim the academic year 2004-2005 the 2005 Year of Languages in the United States nationwide. With this plan, the ACTFL has a pledge to leave no American behind in the opportunity to learn at least two languages in addition to the mother tongue. Council leaders drew up a formal list of proposed elements and activities for the 2005 Year of Languages in the United States initiative. The council and other language specialists would collaborate with the 60 language organizations nationwide to promote exhibits of language projects.
