- Title
CAN STABLE ISOTOPE RATIOS PRO VIDE FOR COMMUNITY-WIDE MEASURES OF TROPHIC STRUCTURE? REPLY.
- Authors
Layman, Craig A.; Post, David M.
- Abstract
The article presents the authors' views on the significance of stable isotope ratios on community-wide measures of trophic structure. The authors noted that applications of stable isotopes to disentangle food web complexity becomes increasingly problematic as the number of resource pools for a particular consumer increases. They suggested that food web ecologists should understand situations under which particular tools including stable isotope-based metrics will prove must useful.
