- Abstract
Phytohormones are molecular signals that trigger and regulate germination, growth, development, defense, response to stress and reproduction in plants. This article briefly overviews a few articles published in the January 2004 issue of the journal "Ecology." The journal introduces a new term called phytohormonal ecology given the hormones are universally employed by plants to coordinate responses to the biotic and abiotic environment. It correlates the term phytohormonal ecology with the central theme of this issue of the journal.
