- Title
The 'heat island' effect and estimates of the temperature of Britain.
- Authors
Symmons, Philip
- Abstract
The article discusses a study which describes the effect of a large built urban area on temperature in Great Britain.. The study indicates that the heat island effect varies according to the city, the weather, and the station site. The difference between worldwide estimates of city temperatures in windy weather compared with calm weather is determined. It shows that the change in mean annual temperature at a station should occur equally at every site within a substantial area.
