- Abstract
The article discusses the cultural background of economist Ludwig von Mises. It states that Mises was born in 1881 in Lwów, the capital of Galicia, and eastern part of Galicia became Austrian at the first Polish partition in 1772, and was returned to Poland in 1918, which is supposed to be significant to Polish culture of Mises, and mentions that strongly upheld personal freedom as an aristocratic nation. It notes that Mises studied law and was influenced by German politics.
