- Title
CONSERVATION: Africa.
- Abstract
The article discusses increased poaching activities in East African nations. Eleven elephants were killed by poachers on January 5-6, 2013 in the Bisadi area of Tsavo East National Park, Kenya, one of its largest contiguous ecosystem. Poaching of African elephants hit a new high in 2012 while in South Africa, 633 rhinos were killed by poachers up to December 19, 2012. Zambia has banned lion and leopard hunting to protect its decreasing feline numbers even if it is bad for the tourism industry.
