- Abstract
The article presents information on a survey conducted on Consumer Privacy Litigation in the U.S. in 2008. It is stated that privacy litigation is frequently caused by disputes related to data security breaches. In a data security breach, BJ's Wholesale Club Inc. was sued by Sovereign Bank for allegedly using the bank's credit cards fradulently. In another case, Gap Inc. allegedly suffered a data security breach after it lost two laptops containing the personal data of 800,000 job applicants.
