- Title
TEXTS AND TOPOGRAPHY.
- Authors
Knox, Peter E.
- Abstract
The article discusses the study which examined the texts and topographical lexica of the location of the temple of Mars by the Via Appia in Italy which can help testify for a Via Tecta in the area. It reveals that the corruption of the topography can be traced to the copyist who had knowledge of the road but assumed that Ovid was referring to the temple of Mars in the Campus. The author stressed the importance of an updated map for guidance to the right variant.
