- Abstract
This article states that humans are not the only animals that metacognize. Seemingly, monkeys and dolphins also possess at least a rudimentary ability to monitor their own state of knowledge and control their behavior accordingly. In this commentary, the distinction between monitoring and control are highlighted, drawing on own work with humans on the strategic regulation of memory accuracy performance.
