- Abstract
The article presents a case study of an incident of Escherichia coli outbreak in packaged spinach in different geographical sites in Monterey County, California, and explores the causes of that outbreak and offers several suggestions to make supply chain networks (SCN) of the fresh produce industry more effective. Information gathered from literature and from personnel involved in agriculture is analyzed. A framework describing factors like product type and topological structure is created.
