Meeting Basic Needs: Health and Safety Practices in Feeding and Diapering Infants.
- Authors
Warrick, Janis; Helling, Mary Kay
- Abstract
This article discusses how to manage basic needs of diapering and feeding of infants in child care centers. Those who are responsible for the care and education of young children must periodically reassess the procedures used when involved in the daily routines of caring for infant basic needs. Avoid feeding an infant directly out of the jar of commercially prepared baby food if the remaining contents will be fed to the baby at another time or to another child. Diapering needs to be done on a surface used only to change diapers. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends various steps for changing diapers as of January 15, 1985.
