- Abstract
Lactobacillus is a genus of lactic acid bacteria having a brief history of innocuous usage, particularly in the field of dairy production. The common traits of this microbe are gram-positive, rod-shaped, non-motile, non-sporing bacteria lacking catalase enzyme. In the present study, overall 159 isolates were acquired, mainly isolated from dairy samples of different origin and the purity of each culture was confirmed by morphological examination, gram's staining and catalase test, screening out 92 isolates and for further studies, 07 best isolates were selected on the basis of molecular identification ( i.e. CM11, CH7, DH9, CM4, CH13, LS5 and LS8), which were identified up to species level through biochemical test by API @ 50 CHL kit as L. salivarius- (CM11), L. plantarum- (CH7), L. fermentum- (DH9), L. acidophilus- (CM4), L. fermentum- (CH13), L. plantarum- (LS5) and L. fermentum- (LS8).
