Abstract
The article discusses how Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) researchers Lloyd Hackel and Brent Dane have created a robot that can laser peen parts for aviation and other industries at Metal Improvement Company (MIC) in Paramus, New Jersey. According to the author, Hackel and Dane developed a neodymium-doped glass laser that produces one billion watts of peak power in 20-billionth-of-a-second pulses.
