- Abstract
The article focuses on a generational approach to explain important features and breaks in the history of the communist movement in Finland. The author outlines several generations throughout the article and describes their roles in the history of communism, including The Reds of 1917 whose first and only political commitment was to the labour movement, the Red Orphans of 1919 who re-founded the Social Democratic Youth League, and the Republicans of 1937 who were the first generation to see the Republic of Finland in positive terms.
