- Abstract
The article reports that Asphalia Food Ltd. was prosecuted and ordered to pay 8000 pounds penalty for violations of the Novel Food and Novel Food Ingredients Regulations 1997 in Great Britain. The company manufactured and supplied food supplements named Asphalia containing festuca arundinacea, which is a novel food ingredient within the European Union (EU). The regulation enforces criminal offence to companies selling foods or ingredients that does not have history of consumption within the EU.
