- Authors
Al-Ghalith, Asad; Rosowski, Susan J.
- Abstract
The article analyzes author Willa Cather's incorporation of the element of light into her writing style. The significance of Impressionism in the visual arts to Cather's writings is discussed. The author suggests that Cather uses light in much the same way as Impressionistic painters, using lyrical description and references to the type of painting in her work, including the books "Lucy Gayheart," "The Song of the Lark," "The Professor's House," "Death Comes for the Archbishop," "O Pioneers!" and "My Ántonia."
