The article explores questions concerning the authorship of the work of playwright William Shakespeare during the late 16th century. Particular focus is given to the theory that Shakespeare's works were written by poet and dramatist Christopher Marlowe. Questions regarding Marlowe's death in 1593 and the publication of Shakespeare's early works are also discussed.
