- Abstract
The article examines the case of a 46-year-old man who was diagnosed with immunoglobulin A nephropathy by renal biopsy in Bari, Italy. Microscopic hematuria and mild protenuria had persisted for five years before the renal biopsy. At the time of the biopsy, he was in apparent good health and physical examination did not reveal discernible abnormality. Immunologic studies revealed numerous erythrocytes without white cells or fatty casts.
