- Abstract
The article explores the popularity of the ideal of police professionalism. Topics discussed include the three elements that comprise police professionalism, reasons for the reemergence of the ideal of police professionalism, and the resistance to police professionalism. Also examined is the need to allot more time to explore the benefits of the competing ideal of community policing despite its limitations.
