The article aims to answer the question whether nations have the right to unilateral secession, and if there is a remedial right to secede, what the conditions for its granting are. On the basis of previous cases of secession, which were approved or condemned by the international community, six conditions for determining the legitimacy of a unilateral secession are listed.
