- Abstract
Current knowledge indicates that constipation is a symptom influenced by psychosocial factors. The psychological factors can be a cause as well as a consequence. It is worth remembering that constipation has its psychological consequences for the people suffering from it. On different levels of medical diagnosis the psychological diagnoses come in handy. They are prepared for intervention undertaking, and they help to get to know and understand the patient and the illness better. Thanks to the cooperation with psychologist the physician can chose proper treatment adjusted to the needs of the particular patient.
