- Abstract
Folia Biologica is celebrating its 70th anniversary as a journal of continuous research publication. It was first published in Prague in 1954 and served as a link between the science of Czechoslovakia and the Western world during the Cold War. The journal initially focused on experimental medicine, immunology, virology, and experimental zoology. Over the years, it has published articles by Nobel laureates and has evolved to cover a wide range of issues in biomedicine, with a focus on oncology and human molecular genetics. The journal has undergone improvements and now publishes articles in an open access model. It plans to introduce an online-only publication model in 2025. The anniversary volume includes a reprint of a review article by Sir Peter Brian Medawar and showcases the changes in research focus and the evolution of the journal over the decades. The editors express gratitude to all those involved in the production of the journal and hope for many more decades of scientifically interesting articles.
