The article looks at several uses of abandoned underground pipelines that may contain residual materials or serve as contaminant conduits. Topics covered include the business of David Howell of Pipeline Equities in Texas focused on digging up old pipelines which can be re-used or sold as scrap metal and the abandoned pipelines in Canada under the jurisdiction of the National Energy Board (NEB). Also mentioned are proposed legislation on the responsibility for environmental impact of old pipes.
