- Abstract
The article focuses on the evolution of Parent Teacher Association (PTA) in the U.S. PTA was founded as the National Congress of Mothers in 1897 to allow mothers across the country reduce the threats that endangered their children. But some PTAs withdrew from the national organization to create the local Parent Teacher Organizations which do not pay dues to the national PTA. Other groups were established to empower parents, one of which is the Education Reform Now.
