The article explores the feasibility of criminal liability for guards who sexually assault women inmates in the U.S. Topics discussed include provisions of the U.S. Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) which set forth various policies and provisions aimed at ending custodial sexual assault; laws under Prison Litigation Reform Act (PLRA), which seeks to curb prisoner civil litigation; and legal barriers that inmates face to accessing the courts.
