- Abstract
This article focuses on the implementation of the negative price incentive structure (NPIS) for public firms. The authors suggests alternative schemes that provide solutions to some of the difficulties. This article cites important topics such as, the nature of an incentive structure that will induce the manager of a socialist enterprise to provide at the optimal output level, how does the planner design a reward scheme so that the manager will not be induced to change a price and provide output level that result in an excess demand, types of incentives schemes will induce the manager to provide optimally in terms of both quantity and quality.
