- Abstract
The article focuses on vascular graft infection due to pasteurella multocida. The first human case of Pasteurella infection was described in 1913 in a patient with puerperal fever. In 1939, P. multocida was isolated from infection after a cat bite. Pasteurella species are found in the mucous membranes of the upper respiratory and digestive tracts of mammals and birds. The next most common presentation of P. multocida infection is bacteremia with or without metastatic lesions. Occasionally P. multocida is found in the nasopharynx of healthy humans who had frequent animal exposure, such as veterinary students and animal handlers.
