- Abstract
The earwigs are a small group of medium-sized hemimetabolous insects, which have been very little studied worldwide. In Mexico 67 species have been reported. Morelos is one of the smallest states in Mexico, but it possesses a remarkable diversity of habitats and straddles two biogeographic zones (the Transmexican Volcanic Belt and the Balsas River Basin). Here, we make a checklist of Dermaptera from Morelos and summarize the available information on their distribution and ecology. We also describe a new genus and species from Morelos and illustrate female Paracosmia silvestrii Borelli, 1909 for the first time.
