These unbalanced conditions promote a situation in which research teams from the periphery are dismissed and excluded by the accelerated workflow of the core I big labs i in aDNA research and a lack of understanding of the diversity and processes of the academic landscape in the periphery. There is still space for (self)reflection, and also for expanding the discourse(s) on ethics, practice, and scientific structure of aDNA research and its relations to the pace of the practice of the periphery. The pace and space of aDNA/AHR work practice is increasingly becoming a concern among peripheral researchers and stakeholders.
