L'AUTORE DELL'APOCALISSE: UN EMINENTE EBREO CHE INCONTRA GESÙ?
- Authors
Vanni, Ugo
- Abstract
The piece addresses the issue of the identification of the author of the book of Revelations through an analysis of the data that can be drawn from the text itself. If the outstanding amount of citations or allusions to the Old Testament is enlightening, it is, in particular, the interweaving of references to the sacred books of Israel that can be seen in Rev. 1:9-20, which leads to the conclusion that the author is a highly educated Jew, versed in the Scriptures. As far as the references to John in Rev. 1:4,9 and 22:8 are concerned, it is held to be just a mark of veneration and inspiration of his teaching, without having to presume a direct participation of the Evangelist in the writing of the book.
