- Abstract
The article discusses the historical and social aspects of juvenile drug addiction, particularly focusing on the link between State-sponsored medical, social, and cultural programs on youth drug addiction in early Soviet Russia. It addresses the social construction of the juvenile drug addict in Russia through medical professionals, as well as comments on the view of drug addiction as a specific social problem requiring intervention. Other topics explored include the impact of World War I on drug use in Russia, the presentation of drug addiction on Soviet medical texts, and the democratization of drug addiction.
