LE MISSIONI DIVINE NEL DE TRINITATE DI AGOSTINO D'IPPONA.

- Abstract
This article presents the line of development in Books 2-4 of Augustine's De Trinitate. In these Books the purpose of the author is to reflect about the divine missions of the Son and the Holy Spirit. After the examination of the hermeneutic criteria that guide the interpretation of the biblical passages in which the idea of mission appears, Augustine shows against Arian exegesis that "mission" does not mean "subordination". This aim is pursued through the investigation of three issues, all of them concerning Old Testament theophanies: who is their subject; how they happen; what is their relationship with the fullness of Trinity's revelation in the New Testament.
