- Authors
Carder, Paula C.; Morgan, Leslie A.; Eckert, J. Kevin
- Abstract
The article focuses on the significance of small board-and-care homes in assisted living and other adult care programs and services in the U.S. Small board-and-care settings have served an important role in community-based care for older people who have physical and cognitive impairments. Furthermore, board-and-care homes vary in terms of regulatory oversight and reimbursement alternatives. The state of Maryland and Oregon have different regulatory approaches to board-and-care homes. The author assesses the impact of regulation on the lives of residents as well as its effects to health care providers.
