- Title
Bob's THEW SHOVEL: The Adventure of the Last Type No. 0.
- Authors
Carter, Jim
- Abstract
The article discusses the origin of the steam shovel purchased by Bob Kelly from Paddy Greene in the U.S. The family found out the serial number Type No. 0, which indicates that it was produced by Thew Automatic Shovel Co. in 1913 in Lorain, Ohio. Keith Haddock, cofounder and board director of the Historical Construction Equipment Association (HCEA), argues that the shovel is not Type No. 0 because all the company's equipment were already scrapped. Furthermore, Lou McMaster who purchased the same shovel, was contacted by Clark Construction Group Inc. to present the shovel during its 100th anniversary together with the Kellys.
