- Abstract
The article focuses on how executives perceive joint ventures in a form to link the specialized expertise of the parent firms and reasons for rejection of mergers, licensing or internal development. The authors discuss several substitutes for joint ventures and different reasons for sellouts. The author states that when considering a joint venture an executive must determine whether a potential partner is willing and able to make the relationship work. The article also discusses the characteristics of corporate courtship.
