Toxic Shock Syndrome: Antibiotic Management.
- Authors

- Abstract
This article describes the symptoms, possible causes, and treatment of toxic shock syndrome (TSS). It has been reported that menstruating women who use superabsorbent tampons were at the greatest risk for TSS. TSS was originally found to be caused by staphylococcus aureus, but it was later discovered that streptococcus could also cause the condition. Diagnosis of both versions of TSS must be made using different criteria for each. Aggressive treatment with appropriate antibiotics should begin as soon as a diagnosis is made.
