- Abstract
The resistance to abrasive wear of coatings WC- 10Co, Diamalloy®, and Stellite 6® deposited through the high velocity oxi-fuel (HVOF) process on a carbon iron substrate was evaluated through the ASTM G 65 standardized abrasive tests. This method uses a rubber wheel pressed against the test specimens and silica sand as third body abrasive particles. Coatings were characterized by metallography assays to check the presence of pores, oxides and unfused particles. Furthermore, the hardness and the adhesion of the coatings to the metal substrate was characterized. Through the results shown on this study, it was possible to observe that, at the end of the abrasive test, the coating with greater resistance to abrasive wear also presented greater surface hardness.
