- Abstract
A literary criticism of the book "Daniel Deronda" by George Eliot is presented. It notes on the Jewish element in the novel which show the issues of contemporary critical theory and the traditional critical outlook in literature. It explores the impact of humanist and rationalist views in Eliot's works including the Jewish mysticism and myth. It also discusses the influences of epic and classical tragedy in the literary work.
