- Abstract
Second harvest of soybeans has been restricted and the production of corn has been upgraded in the state of Paraná, Brazil. Current study evaluates yield components of the winter corn harvest, managed at different nitrogen fertilization levels (0, 50, 100, 150 kg ha-1) and with high seed densities (65,000 and 75,000 seeds ha-1). Assay was conducted in Dois Vizinhos PR Brazil, during the 2015 winter harvest, on tillage system. Yield components of the cultivation were assessed. Higher rates of spikes per plant, number of grains per row, number of grains per spike, productivity per plant and spike in lower density were reported. The number of grains per spike increased linearly due to increase of nitrogen levels. However, the other variables were not affected by nutrient levels. The mass of one thousand grains and the productivity of winter corn were not affected by the factors evaluated. Mean productivity at 10,113 kg ha-1 for winter corn in Dois Vizinhos was satisfactory, even without the application of nitrogen. It is actually an alternative for producers.
