- Abstract
Akif Pasha was one of the leading figures of the Mahmud II. He served in important positions in the central bureaucracy. He served as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Internal Affairs. After Abdulmecid became the sultan, he was appointed as the Governor of Kocaeli. However, a few months later, he was dismissed on the grounds that he and those under his command received bribes and caused injustice in the administration. Her crime was found fixed at the end of the trial. He was punished with not to be given a state duty again, to reside in Edirne for two years and not to use the titles of vizier and pasha. The trial and punishment of Ali Pasha, one of the leading poets of the period, is one of the remarkable events of the new period, which started with the reading of the Tanzimat Edict. In this article, the trial process of Akif Pasha has been investigated by using archive documents and primary and secondary sources.
