The article discusses a study which investigated the usage, risk, and benefit of several weight-loss drugs such as rimonabant, sibutramine and orlistat in primary care. Three hundred patients were randomly selected at 15 primary care centres. It was found that weight-loss drug treatment was often initiated upon patient request but was of limited clinical benefit.
