- Abstract
The author examines the factors that contribute to higher health care spending in the U.S. compared with other developed countries. The author compares the cost of healthcare in the U.S. with other countries, such as Great Britain, Canada and Germany, and the quality of American medical care compared with other high-income countries. He also talks about the condition of end-of-life care in the U.S. and the pros and cons of a market-based health reform in the U.S.
