- Abstract
The article discusses how to medically treat and manage a latex allergy patient as of 2017, and it mentions the case of a young female patient with multiple allergies who preparing to undergo a colectomy for diverticulitis with ureteral stent placement procedure when the urology team mistakenly inserted a latex catheter into the patient. A root cause analysis is addressed, along with a failure to communicate the patient's latex allergy and methods for minimizing medical errors.
