- Title
Endoscope Implicated in Illinois Infection Outbreak.
- Abstract
The article reports on a study published in an issue of "Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report," which linked a northeastern Illinois outbreak in 2013 of infections with Escherichia coli that produces New Delhi metallo-13-1actamase (NDM) with a contaminated endoscope used to perform endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP). Health care facilities with carbapenem-resistant Entero-bacteriaceae (CRE) outbreaks are advised to consider the possibility of ERCP-related transmission.
