- Abstract
The aim of most trials about febrile infants and children without a focus is to describe the risk factors and to determine the focus of fever and therapy. Thus, patient's clinical history, laboratory tests and physical examination are carefully obtained to determine whether they need treatment or not. In general infants <2 months of age should be hospitalized, infants >36 months of age should be follow up in outpatient clinic. Infant between 2-36 months of age should be treated according to the appropriate clinical evaluation. However, empiric antibiotic treatment in febrile children without a focus is still a debate.
