- Abstract
Estimating of seasonal energy requirement is so important for design of heating and cooling loads of residents. In spite of there are so many methods for residential energy analysis, one of the easiest is degree-days method. Degree-days method is playing an important role for estimating heating and cooling loads, energy planning and sizing of HVAC instruments. In this study, an energy consumption estimation is made by using different base temperatures (tb= 20, 22, 24, 26, 28 °C) in cooling months for ten cities (Adana, Afyon, Ankara, Edirne, Erzurum, Izmir, Ardahan, Artvin, Samsun and Sanliurfa) at different climate regions in Turkey. For the calculation of different base temperatures for annual, average cooling degree-days numbers, daily maximum and minimum temperature values for 20 years( between 1985-2005) are used which taken from meteorological stations at cities as said before. At the end of calculations, it is concluded that energy consumption of Sanliurfa which has the highest degree-days number is 16 times bigger than energy consumption of Ardahan which has the lowest degree-days number for cooling.
