- Abstract
The article discusses the civil engineer and member of the U.S. Army's Topographical Corps Captain Howard Stansbury's expedition to the Great Salt Lake, Utah in 1849. Particular focus is given to Stansbury's map of the Great Salt Lake region and the route of his travel, including the depiction of trails, lakes and rivers on his map. The article often references Stansbury journal of his 1849 expedition.
