- Title
Why Has Critical Commentary Been Curtailed at Top Economics Journals? A Reply to Robert Whaples.
- Authors
COELHO, PHILIP R. P.; MCCLURE, JAMES E.
- Abstract
The article explains the decline in critical commentary on major economics journals. The authors mention that Robert Whaples concentrated on the journal citations as a factor to the decline, which they reversed that citations boost the morale of the editorial policy reforms and improve the use to critical commentary in economics journals like "American Economic Review." The authors conclude that the decline in critical commentary is caused by the desire of editors in adding the citations to themselves and their fellow editorial workers.
